JUSTINE SIMONSON

I'm a nonfiction media producer with 20+ years of experience in television and digital media production. I started my career in New York City working on large, historical reenactment documentaries for cable television before transitioning to magazine journalism at WNET where I was a staff producer & writer. Following that, I produced a few reality-style shows for National Geographic and TLC, before branching into branded and editorial digital media for clients like Showtime, Miller Lite, SAP, Dell, BMW, LEGO, Condé Nast, and Hearst. I'm experienced and comfortable taking an idea from initial concept to final delivery in both multi-hour broadcast formats as well as 20-second social media campaigns. I'm a fast and adaptable writer and have an excellent track record of tackling complex subjects and building relationships with talent. Interviews are one of my talents and favorite parts of the job.

I started my career in still photography and lighting design on feature films. My early work included lighting design for large-scale photographer Gregory Crewdson on the multi-year oeuvre Beneath the Roses. As a cinematographer, I have focused on projects that explore and document the natural and man-made world on projects like Discovery Channel’s The Rising: Rebuilding Ground Zero and the theatrical documentary film Song of the Basques. My passion for visual storytelling has taken me on expeditions around the world from Antarctica to Madagascar. My favorite subjects to film are science and food. My film and TV clients include Siemens, House Hunters International, Science Channel, National Geographic Channel, Discovery, CNN, Animal Planet, PBS, & the American Museum of Natural History among others.
